Seiner No. 6 19” X 15”
$60.00
This is a roughly to-scale cutaway drawing of a fishing vessel built in 1946 in Seattle, repowered years later with a Cummins N855 main engine. The actual vessel is 56 feet long and can hold about 25 tons of salmon.
The boat was built as a fish trap tender, but converted to purse seine gear in the 1950s. She has also fished for crab, shrimp, and herring.
This drawing is at a larger and more accurate scale than the other cutaways in Tom's seiner series.
The original drawing is the property of the permanent collection of the Tongass Historical Museum, and comprises a part of the Museum's F/V Alsek exhibit.
