R/V Oscar Dyson Scanning Pollock School 9” X 9”
$25.00
The NOAA Research Vessel Oscar Dyson using sonar to scan a school of Bering Sea walleye pollock for analysis.
The ship uses a Simrad EK80 system to detect and gather data about schools of fish to support fisheries science and management. The array is mounted on a retractable “daggerboard” that extends downward from the hull in order to avoid the interference caused by tiny bubbles passing along the hull of the ship as it moves through the water.
